A budget hotel with a good location

I booked this hotel for my own trip to northern Spain. I chose it mainly for the convenient location and because I already knew the Petit Palace brand — we’ve stayed in their hotels before.

In my view, the location is good: it’s on the first line by the ocean, next to a promenade that continues into a second, larger promenade. It’s just a few minutes’ walk to the метро station, so it’s easy to reach both the airport and the city centre — and you could also comfortably base yourself here for a few days.

The rooms are clean, new and nice. Toiletries have a pleasant scent, complimentary water is provided, and the mini-bar is charged extra. They also left sweets as a gift for the child. One thing to note: if you don’t book a sea-view room, the windows may face an inner courtyard.

Breakfast is decent and fairly varied: several types of fresh juices, different kinds of milk and bread, pastries, jamón, tortilla, and pizza. I marked it down because the chicken ham wasn’t very fresh. Also, when items ran out, they weren’t always replenished, they would put out whatever was available, or a different item. Overall, though, it’s fine for a continental breakfast. The coffee is good.

Reception is 24/7 — no issues there and the staff are pleasant.

At check-in they ask for a card for a deposit, in case you use the mini-bar.
