A budget hotel with a large grounds

Hotel Jaime 3* is located in the centre of Salou, 450 m from the beach.

At the moment, the hotel feels like a big Soviet-style санаторий. BUT ❗️it has a new owner and a major (full) renovation is underway. The hotel will continue operating throughout. And ❗️in two years, the guide claims it will be a really strong 4-star. WE’LL SEE.

For now, it’s popular with budget-minded Spanish families and groups (football, yoga, school groups, camps, etc.). When we visited, it was due to reopen officially the next day, and !!250 guests were checking in.

From the outside it looks decent; at the entrance you’re greeted by a statue of King James I of Aragon, after whom the hotel is named.

The lobby is old, gloomy, and rather run-down.

The main restaurant was refurbished over winter 2024 and genuinely looks bright and stylish.

Board basis: all options. Soft drinks and water from dispensers on HB/FB are free during lunch and dinner.

Grounds: large. 3 accommodation blocks (700+ rooms).

Pools: 2 for adults (one Olympic-size) and 2 for children.

There’s a small waterpark for older kids and inflatable slides for the little ones.

For children: mini club, animation, mini disco, playground. Baby items are available (baby bath, high chair, changing table, microwave in the restaurant).

The slides and pools have been updated. Sunbeds by the kids’ pool are new as well.

No beach towels.

Spa: available. Indoor heated pool — €4 per person per hour (13:00–21:00).

Mini golf on site is free.

Rooms are about half renovated.

In-room safe is free. No kettle, no iron. Wi-Fi is available.

All rooms are standard rooms for 2, 3 or 4 guests.

No two-room family rooms.

Parking — €24 per day. No pets.

Check-in — 15:00, check-out — 11:00.

If rooms are available, they may check you in earlier.

Late check-out — €35 until 18:00.
